Title: Senior Support Scientist (Geochemistry)
Education Required:
M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Chemistry or B.Sc. in Chemistry and a minimum of 3 years of experience with ICP-OES and/or ICP-MS analytical equipment.
Responsibilities:
May include some or all of the following or any other tasks assigned directly or indirectly as deemed necessary by the Ancaster Laboratory (Geochemistry) Manager.

Support: Provide support to any analytical phase, as needed. This includes, but is not limited to; operation of analytical equipment; interpretation of analytical data in order to release results; and suggesting/acting on the next plausible step when problems arise.

Investigation Responsibilities: Review progress of investigations regularly with management, colleagues, and direct reports, as necessary. Investigations include, but are not limited to, customer complaints, proficiency testing failures, quality control issues during routine testing, and non-conformance reports (NCRs). Emphasis on root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions / preventative actions (CAPAs). Assist staff in performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventative actions to improve our processes.

Continuous Improvement: Investigate and identify potential areas for improvement (quality, efficiency, etc.) within our current methodology and processes. Provide instruction, guidance, and support to colleagues and direct reports in order to advance development work, implement new methodology, and/or improve performance. Provide scientific leadership, mentorship, training, and guidance to all laboratory staff.

Collaboration: Consult and assist with other locations (Kamloops, Thunder Bay, etc.) as necessary.
