Our lab is located in the Industrial Area, in <strong data-start=\"1250\" data-end=\"1273\">East Coast Demerara<\/strong>. The Senior Accountant will oversee our lab accounting process, coordinate with the management and operations teams in Guyana, and ensure proper and timely reporting to the Head Office in Ancaster, Canada.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1481\" data-end=\"1484\" \/>\n<p data-start=\"1486\" data-end=\"1576\"><strong data-start=\"1486\" data-end=\"1517\">Responsibilities and Duties<\/strong><br data-start=\"1517\" data-end=\"1520\" \/>The Senior Accountant\u2019s responsibilities mainly include:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1578\" data-end=\"2653\">\n<li data-start=\"1578\" data-end=\"1675\">\n<p data-start=\"1580\" data-end=\"1675\">Handling the daily accounting operations and maintaining proper accounting books and records;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1676\" data-end=\"1833\">\n<p data-start=\"1678\" data-end=\"1833\">Ensuring accounting entries are timely processed, supporting documents properly filed, general ledger properly maintained, and month-end properly closed;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1834\" data-end=\"1968\">\n<p data-start=\"1836\" data-end=\"1968\">Processing and administering biweekly payroll and ensuring compliance with statutory laws and regulations (Tax; social security\u2026);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1969\" data-end=\"2060\">\n<p data-start=\"1971\" data-end=\"2060\">Processing periodic VAT and tax declarations and ensuring payment within the deadlines;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2061\" data-end=\"2236\">\n<p data-start=\"2063\" data-end=\"2236\">Coordinating with the operations and administrative teams to ensure proper and timely client invoicing and collections as well as timely processing of suppliers\u2019 payments;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2237\" data-end=\"2335\">\n<p data-start=\"2239\" data-end=\"2335\">Ensuring that banks, receivables and payables accounts are properly maintained and reconciled;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2336\" data-end=\"2420\">\n<p data-start=\"2338\" data-end=\"2420\">Ensuring that our corporate policies and procedures are followed and adhered to;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2421\" data-end=\"2522\">\n<p data-start=\"2423\" data-end=\"2522\">Collaborating and working with the international controller (based in Canada) on ad-hoc projects;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2523\" data-end=\"2573\">\n<p data-start=\"2525\" data-end=\"2573\">Ensuring monthly reporting to the Head Office;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2574\" data-end=\"2653\">\n<p data-start=\"2576\" data-end=\"2653\">Assisting in financial planning, setting procedures, and improving processes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr data-start=\"2655\" data-end=\"2658\" \/>\n<p data-start=\"2660\" data-end=\"2692\"><strong data-start=\"2660\" data-end=\"2692\">Education and Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2694\" data-end=\"3309\">\n<li data-start=\"2694\" data-end=\"2778\">\n<p data-start=\"2696\" data-end=\"2778\">Bachelor\u2019s degree in Accounting; professional designation is a plus (ACCA, CPA);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2779\" data-end=\"2867\">\n<p data-start=\"2781\" data-end=\"2867\">3+ years of accounting or audit experience (public accounting experience is valued);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2868\" data-end=\"2948\">\n<p data-start=\"2870\" data-end=\"2948\">Hands-on experience with accounting software or ERPs, preferably QuickBooks;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2949\" data-end=\"3034\">\n<p data-start=\"2951\" data-end=\"3034\">Strong attention to detail, well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3035\" data-end=\"3086\">\n<p data-start=\"3037\" data-end=\"3086\">Proficiency in Microsoft Office (mainly Excel);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3087\" data-end=\"3143\">\n<p data-start=\"3089\" data-end=\"3143\">Excellent communication skills (written and verbal);<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3144\" data-end=\"3218\">\n<p data-start=\"3146\" data-end=\"3218\">Team-focused and ability to work with others as well as independently;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3219\" data-end=\"3309\">\n<p data-start=\"3221\" data-end=\"3309\">Ability to work in a changing environment and to consistently achieve quality standards.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr data-start=\"3311\" data-end=\"3314\" \/>\n<p data-start=\"3316\" data-end=\"3461\"><strong data-start=\"3316\" data-end=\"3358\">Position Type \/ Expected Hours of Work<\/strong><br data-start=\"3358\" data-end=\"3361\" \/>This is a full-time position.
